Mommy's Desk

I created this image as a background for a web site I am building. It's going to be a portfolio of sorts, where prospective clients can find a little more about me from clicking on different areas of the picture:

My Sketchbook leads to different designs I'm working on in their early forms.

The photo album leads to scrapbooking pages I've done for my daughter's baby book.

The envelopes are visible when the drawer pops open and they lead to the "contact me" page where people can inquire about my services.

The dayplanner leads to an open calendar view of my schedule.

I am also toying with the idea of having Audrey Hepburn and Dirty Dancing lead to a page where I feature some of my favorite films and things.

Oh, and the tea cup is my way of sneaking a little Flash in there, as the steam loops and rises from the cup.

I created everything in this image in Photoshop other than the keyboard area of the laptop, the buds of the flowers and some of the items on the bulletin board. Those were all tweaked to become part of the desk scene.

All in all, I'm happy with the way this turned out. It's an ongoing project for me and, every time I work on it, it reminds me of some of my favorite things. It always makes me smile.
